Leinster surged back to the top of the Celtic League table with a convincing 38-21 victory over The Opsreys at Lansdowne Road.

The triumph kept the Irish province's title challenge on course and added to the the Welsh regional side's away day woes where they have won only one of their last seven outings.

For Leinster it also marked their first win over the Ospreys since November 2003 and served as revenge for the defeat at the Liberty Stadium earlier in the season.

Not for the first time the influential Felipe Contepomi proved vital for the hosts scored 18 points through a try, three penalties and two conversions.

The Argentinian's half-back partner Guy Easterby grabbed a brace of tries while Jamie Heaslip and Niall Ronan also crossed for five-pointers.

Contepomi opened the scores with a penalty but the Ospreys' Gavin Henson responded with two of his own to edge the visitors ahead.

Leinster's first try followed with Malcolm O'Kelly securing the lineout ball before Easterby looped around Contepomi before racing away to score.

Contepomi conversion carried him past the 500-point barrier in Leinster colours and he soon furthered that mark when crossing for his side's second try of the night.

His conversion and another penalty saw the home side enter the break 20-6 ahead.

Henson reduced the arrears with the first points of the second half but their hopes of a revival when first Contepomi slotted another penalty before Easterby grabbed his second try after No.8 Heaslip had created the space on the wing.

The Ospreys rallied with Jonathan Thomas and Jason Spice creating a score for Johnny Vaughton to score but further five-pointers from Heaslip and Ronan put the game beyond doubt and secured the bonus point.

There was still time for Henson to grab a late try to cap a notable performance but it was Leinster's night.

The crowd rose one more time as Leinster's last home game of the season ended to salute flanker Eric Miller who is retiring at the end of the season.
