Leinster had a massive wind advantage in the first half. But fly-half Andy Dunne failed with a fourth-minute penalty attempt to open the scoring. The visitors maybe should have done better with the wind at their backs but they had to wait until the 30th minute when Gordon D'Arcy dropped a goal.

Ulster's Matt McCullough and Leinster's Fosi Pala-amo were also sent to the sin-bin during a niggly first 40 minutes.

Leinster controlled the ball in the second half but Owen Finegan knocked on with the line beckoning.

Instead Ulster's David Humphreys slotted two penalties to give his side the lead. D'Arcy replied to even the scores and with Justin Harrison's late yellow card the visitors pushed for the win.

But Ulster held out and this Irish derby ended at six-all.
