Evans happy to play anywhere

Glasgow centre Max Evans says he is more than happy to play anywhere for his country.
Evans has been switched from outside centre to wing for Scotland's Six Nations tie with England this weekend and the 26-year-old has no qualms about the much-talked-about move.

"Andy (Robinson) said, 'I'm thinking of playing you on the wing; how do you feel about that?"' said Evans, who has appeared on the wing before but has never started an international in that position.

"I said, 'Anywhere in that starting XV's fine by me'.

"When I got introduced to the Glasgow Warriors team, the first few games I was starting on the wing.

"I'm fairly comfortable in that position and have come on a few times as a wing replacement.

"I got my first cap against Canada on the wing. Against Wales, I even got a cheeky try in there."

While he is clearly comfortable with the positional challenge in front of him, Evans says Saturday's Calcutta Cup tie has already become personal.

Evans went to school in England at Wellington College in Berkshire where he became good friends with a high-profile opponent.

The 26-year-old schooled alongside Stade Francais star James Haskell, who will be lining up on the blindside flank for England this weekend.

Evans says the pair are in still in touch and that a Scottish victory would be followed by plenty of good-natured banter in the direction of his former team-mate.

"We stay in contact through Facebook; you can't stay disconnected with someone on Facebook - especially with him," said Evans.

"He loves his Tweeting now.

"There's not been any banter this week as such so we'll see how that goes.

"If he's the last defender to beat and I beat him and score a try, I'll put a few pictures up on Facebook, no doubt."
