| The return of scrum-half Chris Cusiter, after a knee ligament strain suffered during Scotland’s gutsy Bank of Scotland Corporate Autumn Test performance against the All Blacks, marks the welcome return of the half-back pairing of Cusiter and Scotland’s most capped player Gregor Townsend.
Bates said: “Chris is a world class player with great individual attributes. He has fantastic pace, service and brings a positive psychological impact to the team.
“If we can secure good ball for him, he is the best scrum-half there is as he proved during the Lions’ tour,” he added.
