Dean Dewdney has been forced to retire from professional rugby following an injury to discs in his neck sustained playing for Cardiff RFC.
Dean arrived in Britain from Zimbabwe to spend a gap year teaching at Clifton College. Whilst playing for Clifton he quickly came to the attention of the Bristol selectors and joined the playing staff in 1995.
Dean then moved to Neath in 2001 and joined Cardiff RFC on a full-time contract in August 2002.

He had made a fleeting appearance for the Cardiff RFC against Cambridge University in the club's 125th anniversary season in November, 2001. He began the game at scrum-half, played the final half-hour at fly-half, and converted his own try in Cardiff's 40-11 victory. Dean was a popular member of the squad making a total of 58 games for Cardiff RFC and Cardiff Blues and scored 18 tries he also won three caps for his native Zimbabwe
