| He said: “I am very excited to be joining the Glasgow Warriors. They have a strong squad for next season and I think we will be very competitive in the Celtic League. I have really enjoyed my time with Edinburgh – the rugby is very good and it’s a beautiful city but I think I will find the same in Glasgow. I am very happy to be staying in Scotland for two more years.”
Meanwhile The Warriors side for tomorrow night’s game against The Dragons in the Celtic League sees three changes to the starting XV that faced Ulster a fortnight ago at Firhill, all in the forwards. In the second row, Tim Barker replaces Craig Hamilton and in the back row John Beattie and John Barclay replace Andrew Wilson and Donnie Macfadyen, who both move to the bench.
Warriors head coach Sean Lineen said: “I want to see the different combinations of players in the back and second rows so we’re working on a rotational basis with one eye on next season. Beattie and Barclay have both been training very hard and I’d like to give them a go for this game.”
With Hefin O’Hare remaining in his new role of outside centre, Lineen added: “That’s his position without a shadow of a doubt. He did very well there in the game against Ulster, scoring his first try for us.”
Scotland centre Andy Henderson will make his 100th appearance for Glasgow Warriors in the game tomorrow evening. Lineen added: “Andy has been a real rock for Glasgow this season. He is very reliable, talented and strong and has a fantastic attitude – everything you want in a professional player.”
Meanwhile, the Warriors can confirm that four players, forwards Tim Barker, Lee Harrison and Gregor Hayter and back Calvin Howarth will all be leaving the club at the end of this season. Lineen commented: “We have spoken recently about moving ahead and changes in the club and I’d like to pay tribute to these guys. They have all been great servants of rugby in Glasgow, particularly Calvin who has made more than 80 appearances for Glasgow and Lee who has made over 100 appearances, and we wish them all the very best in their future careers.”
