| De Luca has signed a two-year-deal fresh from his recent outing with Scotland’s Commonwealth Games sevens squad in Melbourne, Australia whilst Flockhart signs ahead of the BT Cup Final on Saturday where he will be at fullback for BT Premier One club Currie.
Currently an apprentice with Edinburgh Gunners, De Luca, 22, turned down a number offers from outside Scotland in a bid to gain 1st XV professional rugby in the Celtic League along with the possibility of Heineken Cup competition next season.
A member of the Scottish Institute of Sport, De Luca said: “I am hugely excited about the new challenge of joining the Border Reivers. They have stepped up this year and showed they are a very good side with a lot of young and feisty players. I am looking forward to being part of that and I already have some friends in the squad,” he added.”
Flockhart added: “It has been a big decision for me to turn pro and the Reivers is the ideal club to start my career with. They have a very ambitious squad and a great coaching team which I am looking forward to being a part of.”
Reivers head coach Steve Bates added: “Both players are young Scottish talents we are looking forward to giving them the opportunity to play at the professional level because we recognise their potential to play on the international stage in the future.”
