| The new European seeding process will see only the top team from each country seeded in the draw for the pools, which means that any group could include more than one team from the same country.
Despite the withdrawal of seeding for the remaining teams there will still be every reason for Celtic clubs to battle for league places with only three teams from Wales and Ireland and two from Scotland reaching the Heineken competition, and the highest placed team in the Celtic League who has not reached the Heineken Cup automatically handed a ‘second chance’ with a one-match play-off against the third best placed Italian team in their domestic championship.
Celtic League Tournament Director Keith Grainger commented “With about two thirds of the League season still to play I’m getting the feeling that we could be in for another bonanza BIG finish with all the teams keen to get their National number one seeding and to gain automatic nomination for Europe.”
“With only two sides definitely missing out I’m pretty sure we’ll see an ultra competitive bottom end to the table as well as a do or die finale for the silverware!”
