Nine Try Feast in Scotland Send Off

Scotland scored nine tries in their deserved 66 –19 defeat of the Barbarians at Murrayfield tonight.
In their last game before departing on a tour of South Africa, at times it was the Scots who were playing the more free flowing Barbarian style rugby, and led at the interval 24-12 thanks to tries from Mike Blair, Andrew Henderson and Chris Paterson. Kieron Dawson and Steve Hanley tries had kept the Barbarians in touch – just.

The second half was only 5 minutes old when Marcus Di Rollo touched down for Scotland’s 4th try of the night.  This signalled the start of a Scottish try fest that saw the home side add another 5 scores to their total, Dougie Hall and Sam Pinder led the way whilst each of the first half try scorers added a second to their name. The only Barbarian reply came from former French international Tony Marsh.

Chris Paterson had a perfect night with the boot, the wing  kicking 10 out of 10 attempts, (9 conversions and a penalty). The only downer was the sight of Ali Hogg limping off the field just before the final whistle.  With Simon Taylor not touring coach Frank Hadden will hope his versatile back rower will be fit for the trip to South Africa.
