Edinburgh Gunners fly half Ander Monro is set to win his first Canadian cap this weekend when the maple leaves face England A in the Barclays Churchill Cup.
Monro, who was born in Canadian when his father  was serving with the British Army,  is a former member of the Scotland 7’s squad attracted the attention of Canadian coach Ric Suggitt despite the fact his grandfather -, Lord Monro of Langholm - is a Trustee and former President of the Scottish Rugby Union.

“My grandfather is very happy for me and it is a great honour for me to be chosen to play for the country of my birth,” Ander told website rugbycanada.ca.  “I admit I haven’t been to Canada much in my life, but I have a Canadian passport, and hopefully in the future I can spend more time here,” says Monro.

“We debated long and hard about picking Ander for the Scotland game, but we decided it might be unfair to throw him in against the country he is recently from. So he has been picked against England,” said Canada coach Ric Suggitt.
