| On his new signing, head coach Steve Bates said: “Rob is a young and exciting scrum-half and I’m sure he will thrive here at the Reivers as, being a Borderer, it is his local side.
Looking ahead to the game, Bates added: “Llanelli are coming here off the back of two great wins against Ulster and Munster so we know that we have to be at our best this Friday.”
There are four changes to the Borders side, one positional, which played Ulster last weekend.
In the back division, Garry Law returns to inside centre having recovered from a groin strain to replace Nick De Luca who is unavailable due to an ankle injury.
Lock Opeta Palepoi makes his comeback after suffering a back injury during the Heineken Cup game against Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens.
In the back-row, National Academy (Borders) flanker Scott Newlands starts at blindside and Scott Gray starts at No. 8.
Bryan Rennie, who joined the Reivers over the summer from National Cup winners Watsonians, has been named on the bench after being sidelined since August following a knee operation.
The captain for Friday night is still to be confirmed.
