| With Stephen Jones’s return to Stradey Park and the emergence of Ceiron Thomas this season, the diminutive fly-half has found first team opportunities difficult to come by.
Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher said: “I would like to put on record our thanks to Gareth for his great service to both Llanelli RFC and the Scarlets and we wish him well in his future career.”
Bowen, who had earlier stints at Bedford, Bridgend and Bristol before making his debut for Llanelli in Hungary in 2001, proved a prolific marksman for the Stradey Park outfit.
The 27-year-old played 72 games for the Scarlets and made 67 appearances for Llanelli and in that time racked up 1,218 points.
