The Scarlets have played down fears star winger Mark Jones will miss the entire Six Nations campaign.
Jones picked up an ankle injury during the first half of the Heineken Cup game against Ulster on Saturday. The worst was immediately feared as he left the ground on crutches but the Scarlets backroom staff have confirmed the injury isn’t as bad as first thought.
“We are monitoring the situation very closely,” said Director of Rugby Phil Davies. “We are hoping he will be back in action in a couple of weeks time.
“It’s a real pity for Mark because he was beginning to hit some real top form. It’s only a minor ankle sprain so hopefully he will figure in the internationals for Wales at some stage.”
Jones is determined his absence from the Scarlets won't be a long term one. "I'm itching to get back. It was a bit premature by some to write off my chances of playing in the Six Nations and I'm desperate to get back to playing."
