Young Scots Alan MacDonald and Ross Rennie have pledged their future to Edinburgh Rugby by re-signing ahead of next season.
Ross, who is 21 years-old today, began this season as an apprentice. However, after starting for Edinburgh in the opening five Magners League matches of the season, he was offered a senior full-time contract. Currently with the Scotland squad at the Hong Kong sevens, he has now extended his commitment to the club until 2008.

Ross Rennie said: "I'm really excited about committing to Edinburgh for another season and looking forward to new challenges ahead."

Alan, who was named Scotland under 21 Player of the Year at last year's Scottish Rugby Awards ceremony joined the capital club as an apprentice player three years ago before moving on to the senior squad.

Speaking on his new two-year deal with Edinburgh, Alan MacDonald said: "The club is an exciting place to be at the moment, with the new owners and coaches. The Magners League and Heineken Cup are great competitions for a player, given the quality of rugby, and I hope to play as much as I can and in time, realise my ambition to play for Scotland.

"I'm was born and bred in the capital and so naturally I want to play for Edinburgh, and I feel it is an honour to do so."

Head coach Lynn Howells said: "Both Alan and Ross have proved this season they are capable of playing in the Magners League and Heineken Cup and they are a great acquisition for Edinburgh. These latest signings further demonstrate that not all Scottish players are looking to play their rugby outside Scotland."

Their signing for Edinburgh takes the total number of players to 16 who have put pen to paper over the past few weeks as the club continues to build the squad for next season.

Executive Chairman Alex Carruthers said: "I am delighted that Alan and Ross are on board for next season as they are two of the most exciting prospects for the future in Scottish rugby, having already represented the country at age group level and sevens. Their re-signing reiterates our intention to provide the opportunity for the best young Scottish talent to further their ambitions playing professional rugby for Edinburgh and ultimately, for Scotland."
