| For Nick De Luca, it will be a return to Edinburgh having served his apprenticeship with the club last season. He played for Scotland A against Canada and New Zealand Maori in last year's Barclay's Churchill Cup, having already represented his country at all age-grades and at sevens in the IRB world series.
Backs coach Rob Moffat, who formerly coached the Scotland sevens squad said: "Nick is an exciting prospect and I'm expecting him to be very much part of the squad and pushing hard to get in the mix when it comes to selection. I think his time at the Borders has been good for his development as his rugby is maturing and although he is still a young, developing player, he is capable of playing in Europe and the Magners League."
Nick de Luca said: "I'm excited to be coming back to Edinburgh and working with the guys I used to work with. There are also a lot of new players coming in, and so I'm looking forward to being part of a young squad and hopefully we'll achieve big things over the next couple of years."
Ryan Grant will make the move to full time senior rugby this summer, having been an apprentice player at the Borders while serving in the Royal Signals. The former under-21 player made his Scotland A debut against Italy A at McDiarmid Park in February.
He said: "It is a positive move for me, to be able to play alongside some big names at Edinburgh such as Allister Hogg, and learn from Allan Jacobsen, so I am really looking forward to next season."
Head coach Lynn Howells said: "I watched Ryan against Italy A and he had a fine game. He is a big, powerful player and one of the up and coming prospects in Scottish rugby so we've identified him as one for the future. I've no doubt he will benefit greatly from the guidance and direction of our scrummaging coach Massimo Cuttitta, and will also provide a challenge to what is shaping up to be a competitive front row "
This brings the total number of new signings to 12 for next season and Chairman Alex Carruthers commented: "The balance and composition of the squad is already stronger for next season as we now have strength in depth across all positions. This will assist the coaching team especially during times when we normally struggle with the international periods and what will undoubtedly be a difficult time during the rugby world cup."
