By Janet Farmer
After their 23 - 14 win against Connacht on Saturday, the Ulster Rugby Team will be donating their win bonus of approximately £7,900 from the match to the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.
This, added to the money raised from a bucket collection in the ground at the match and a donation from Ards Ladies Hockey Club who pledged their fee from working on the turnstiles, means that Ulster Rugby will be donating £10,400 to the Appeal.

And the fund-raising doesn't stop there!

A group of administrators of Ulster Rugby and the I.R.F.U. Ulster Branch will be taking part in New Year Sponsored Slim in aid of the DEC Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

Ulster Rugby Chief Executive Michael Reid is heading up the team of 9 people who will aim to lose as many pounds as possible while raising money to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in South East Asia.

The team of 9 includes: David Boyd - Ulster Branch Domestic Rugby Manager; Ian Graham – Senior Vice President of the Ulster Branch (Belfast Harlequins); Stan Huey - Junior Vice President of the Ulster Branch (City of Derry); John Robinson – Treasurer Ulster Branch and Ballynahinch RFC; Dr Laurence Rocke – Ulster Branch Doctor; John Dickson - President Ballynahinch RFC; Raymond Thomas – President Malone RFC; Terry Jackson - Kukri Sportswear and Dungannon RFC.

All participants were officially “weighed in” on Saturday 1st January by Ulster Rugby Team Doctor, David Irwin, and will have 8 weeks of fund-raising and slimming before they are weighed again on the 26th of February.
