| As reported on www.cardiffblues.com, bucket collections took place at all entrances to the Arms Park ground before, during and after the game and they were all well serviced as fans dug deep to raise an unprecedented amount of money for an Arms Park charity collection.
At 2.29pm, players, officials and fans alike, observed a 1 minute silence in memory of the victims and their families who have been affected by the tragic event.
The collection was prepared by AFLAC International, one of many organisations assisting the people who have been affected by this tragedy. They were assisted in no short part by 10 players from Cardiff RFC, thanks to the organisation of Mike Rayer and also Ogmore Valley Male Voice choir and their families.
Stuart James, who is President of the AFLAC Wales Branch said, “AFLAC was overwhelmed with the response to the collection. I’d like to thank everyone at the Arms Park who helped to organise it and offer an even bigger thank you to all the fans who donated to the fund.”
AFLAC was initially geared to help makeshift refugee camps by giving food and clothing, but their work has far exceeded this as it is now making its best attempts to address the greater need.
