Dragon’s full back Percy Montgomery has been named as the top points scorer in international matches over the past 12 months according to Rugby World Magazine.
Montgomery scored 154 points in 11 test matches for South Africa in the calendar year of 2004. He was 13 points clear of 2nd placed All Black Daniel Carter, whilst only three other players topped the century mark in test points in 2004 – the Celtic trio Stephen Jones (Wales), Ronan O’Gara (Ireland) and Chris Paterson (Scotland).
The top test try scorer in 2004 was Welshman Tom Shanklin who “crossed” for eleven tries in 11 appearances, with prolific All Black Joe Rokocoko and Wallaby Lote Tuqiri the only others in double figures.
