Llanelli Scarlets have signed South African second row Hottie Louw from ASM Clermont-Auvergne. Scarlets Chief Executive Stuart Gallacher said on the Club’s website; “A two year contract was concluded with Hottie a week ago and we are now delighted to announce that he will be joining us in the summer. We look forward to welcoming him to Stradey Park”.
Hottie commented: “I’m looking forward to joining the Scarlets. The name of Llanelli is known throughout the rugby playing world and I’m looking forward to putting on the famous shirt”.
Meanwhile in Cardiff The Blues have complete the signing of Welsh international scrum half Michael Phillips, who will join them from Llanelli Scarlets at the end of the season. He will be competing for the number 9 shirt with Ryan Powell who has agreed an extension to his current Blues contract.
Cardiff Blues' chief executive Robert Norster, quoted on www.cardiffblues.com said, "These are another two important contractual agreements for our regional squad as we continue to plan the way forward for next season and beyond. All teams require strong selection options and competition for places, especially when injury takes a hand as it has in such pivotal positions for us this season.
"We have been particularly unfortunate at scrum-half. Now Ryan is back to full fitness and with Mike coming on board we have just that. They are two outstanding players and our future prospects can only be enhanced by their presence. With Robert Howley also joining us as backs' coach the two of them will particularly benefit from his expertise."
