Frank Hadden, head coach, said: "We have won three games in a row and although there has been a bit of a gap between games we definitely feel that we are making progress. We want to finish the season on a high and we are delighted to have someone of Simon's pedigree available for selection this week. "
No.8 Taylor commented, "It is great to be back in the Edinburgh shirt. I am hoping all goes well and I can help Edinburgh win another game."
Two weeks ago, the 35-cap international was loaned to Zurich Premiership side Saracens to give the Lions hopeful some valuable game-time after his recovery from a serious knee injury sustained against Ireland in last year's RBS 6 Nations.
Taylor played the last 20 minutes of Saturday's the Premiership win over Northampton and then 40 minutes in a 41-26 friendly defeat against South African Super 12 side The Cats.
