Anderson set for Dragons exit

Newport Gwent Dragons are set to show coach Chris Anderson the exit at the end of the season after the Welsh region informed him that they would not be taking up the second year option on his contract.
Anderson has paid the price for a poor run of form that has realised eight defeats from their last 12 starts.

It is not known whether Anderson, former coach of the Australian national rugby league side, will leave imminently or stay until the current Celtic League campaign ends.

``After extensive discussions between the board of directors of Newport Gwent Dragons and Chris Anderson, it has been mutually agreed that the option to extend Chris' contract for a further year will not be exercised,'' said the board in a statement.

Anderson will be in charge for tonight's Celtic League clash against Ulster at Rodney Parade, but speculation has already begun about his possible successor. Former Newport and Wales fly-half Paul Turner has already been linked with the post.
