SRU Commit to their Professional Teams
21 February 2005, 6:05 pm
By Janet Farmer
Scottish Rugby's Executive Board has made a commitment to fund the three professional teams - Edinburgh Rugby, Glasgow Rugby and The Borders - for the next three years.
Interim Executive Board chairman Fred McLeod said: "Our recent review has made it abundantly clear that our three professional teams are central to the development of Scotland's international teams.

"To that end we must demonstrate a clear commitment to our professional tier.

"While we remain committed to seeking external investment for our professional teams, we must also look to create a more stable environment in which they can operate."

McLeod re-iterated the undertaking that he gave at the SGM that funding for the community game will remain ring-fenced over the next financial year (2005-06).
