Percy Montgomery has signed a two-year contract that will see him leave Wales to play for the Sharks in Durban.
Montgomery will join the Sharks officially on the 1st June 2005. However, provided he is selected to play for the Springboks, he will only start with the team after the Tri Nations in August.

He left South Africa in 2002 to join the Gwent Dragons (then Newport) in Wales having previously played for Western Province from 1996 to 2002.

“My family and I have enjoyed the time we have spent at Newport, but we are very excited about going to KwaZulu Natal. I am looking forward to playing for the Sharks and it will be a huge challenge and honour. I have thoroughly enjoyed my rugby in Wales, but this is a great opportunity for me to experience rugby back home and in a new environment,” said Montgomery.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the administrator’s, coaches and players that have supported me and especially the fans in Wales.”
