| Sititi, who established himself as a firm favourite with The Borders supporters during his previous stint at Netherdale, moved from The Borders to Newcastle Falcons in April 2004.
He took over the captaincy of Samoa following the retirement of Pat Lam after the 1999 Rugby World Cup and has also captained the Samoa Sevens team, playing in two IRB World Cup Sevens tournaments (Argentina and Hong Kong).
He has been an outstanding and inspirational captain both at club and international level, a point which was dramatically illustrated in Samoa’s performance against England in the 2003 Rugby World Cup when he scored a try in the close-run game in which the eventual tournament champions beat the Samoans 35-22.
The Borders head coach Steve Bates said: “We’re delighted to welcome Semo back to Netherdale. It’s very important for the development of the squad to have senior players of Semo’s calibre in the side and his ability and experience will I’m sure stand us in good stead for the season ahead.”
