Chris Cusiter, Shane Horgan, Donncha O’Callaghan and Michael Owen were among the starts of the Lions seconds win of the tour to New Zealand against Taranaki in New Plymouth.
The tourist ran out 36-14 winners after an assured second half performance which saw tries for Horgan, Martin Corry, and 2 for Leicester’s Irishman Geordan Murphy. Man of the match Charlie Hodgson scored 16 points as the Lions came back from a 7-6 half time deficit.

Owen, who now returns home to be at the birth of his first child, produced a performance which must put him in line for a test place at No.8 in the absence of Lawrence Dallaglio, while O’Callaghan and Cusiter both enhanced their test chances.
