Henson stars as Lions struggle

Ospreys star Gavin Henson produced an eye-catching performance in the British & Irish Lions' 26-16 victory over Southland.
His two-try display served as a reminder to coach Clive Woodward that, although not apparently part of this weekend's Test line-up, the Welshman could still yet play a crucial role in the Test series with New Zealand.

It was another stop-start performance from the Lions in Invercargill against what was considered to be the weakest of the provincial opponents.

Henson's first try and a conversion and a penalty from the boot of Munster's Ronan O'Gara were enough to give the visitors a half-time lead with Southland's only points coming from Richard Apanui.

The hosts rallied in the second half with a try from Hale T-Pole but the Lions re-asserted control with another score from Henson and three more penalties from O'Gara.
