Pinder back for trip to Newcastle

Glasgow Warriors scrum-half Sam Pinder is restored to fitness and is named in the squad for tomorrow’s match away against Newcastle Falcons.
Pinder missed last week’s 55-7 warm-up win against Rotherham Titans after he had suffered a dead leg but he reappears to join Graeme Beveridge in competing for the No 9 shirt.

In the pack Craig Hamilton, the international second-row forward, makes a quick return to the club with whom he first played professional rugby.

Elsewhere teenager John Barclay, recipient of the first John Macphail scholarship which enabled him to play club rugby in Wellington, New Zealand during the summer, is included as international openside flanker Donnie Macfadyen continues his rehab from knee surgery.

Glasgow Warriors’ head coach Hugh Campbell said: “Donnie is very much on the mend and could well be available for selection for next Friday’s Celtic League opener against the Dragons at Hughenden.

“As far as tomorrow’s match goes, Newcastle are a top Guinness Premiership side and have just returned from a tour of Japan.  This will be an excellent test for us prior to the start of the Celtic League.”
